Recently finished Treehouse, done with lots of light wood and lots of windows; built with care right into the tree for a unique experience. A world away from downtown, but connected with a direct bus that will take you downtown for all the hustle.
Juanita and Roy have lived and developed the property for over 40 years (please note that both speak English). Beautiful grounds, lots of tropical foliage and flowers, they even have a fruit orchard and grow some organic veggies. You have never seen a hummingbird fly around, here you will!
It's a Treehouse in a living tree and space is not abundant, but there is a private terrace on the lower deck, a new mattress on the upper floor accessible by ladder only and you will feel part of your surroundings. There always a fresh breeze going through the tree and you'll need a sweater or more.
Breakfast will be served at the main house, usually on the outdoor terrace of the main house or indoors if the weather is not quite up to task. The Treehouse has no kitchen and other meals are not provided. However, there are many options in San Antonio de Escazu and also Escazu.
The Treehouse is ideal for guests that want to enjoy and experience regional cuisine and eat out a lot.
Wifi is available at the Treehouse.
Guest Access: The Treehouse, use of the outdoor terrace of the main house. Guests are free to explore the property and observe the many birds and butterflies. There is also fresh fruit on the trees, but please coordinate first.
The garden is also great to catch a nap in the afternoon and catch some sun! The Treehouse has it's own sun deck as well.
Guests can define the level of interaction, but both Juanita and Roy are always happy to have guests and personally spend afternoons full of great hospitality, yummy food, lots of talking there. Both speak English.
You are up in the hills of Escazu and not in walking distance to the hip parts, restaurants and shopping centers. So if nightlife is important, this most likely is not the place.
There is a direct bus and for those that rent a car it's perfect. Taxis are fairly inexpensive. There are also buses that go from downtown San Jose to the town center, these run more frequently.
The last stop of the direct bus to Escazu and San Jose is around the bend from the property and takes about 45 min to downtown.
AIRPORT TO TREEHOUSE: We offer a shuttle service from the airport to Treehouse for $ 40 one way.
Public transportation is possible by first catching a bus from the airport to San Jose, then in walking distance from the bus terminal is the starting point for the bus to San Antonio de Escazu, El Curio. This is recommendable only for the hardy budget traveler with not so much luggage to carry around.
