It is on the ground floor of a listed building located on the hill of Monticelli which is 2 hours south of Florence, 2.5 hours north of Rome and 20 minutes from the art ciry of Perugia, the capital of Umbria. Several of the listed buildings on the hill are over 1400 years old and have been recently restored under the supervision of the Italian Ministry of Culture. Originally the buildings were a fortress at the border of the Easten Roman Empire with the Lombards. It later became a benedictine monastery and after 1474 a summer and hunting residence of noble families.
