San Niccolò is one of the oldest and best-preserved neighborhoods in the city, with medieval streets, stone houses, small squares, and artisan workshops. The atmosphere is calmer and more “village-like” compared to the city center, although it is still quite popular.
Nearby bus stops / public transport
The Benci stop — serving lines such as C1, C3, 23 — is about a 1-minute walk from Via San Niccolò.
Other nearby stops include Serristori Grazie (~3 minutes on foot), Corso dei Tintori (~2 minutes), and Piazzale Il David (~10 minutes).
Public transport is therefore very convenient — perfect for getting to and from the city center or other areas of Florence.
Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN) Train Station
(~15–18 minutes on foot; easily reachable by bus or on foot along the Arno River)
Supermarkets
A very convenient supermarket is Conad – Via de’ Bardi, at Via de’ Bardi 45/47 , which is quite close; for many residents of San Niccolò, it is considered “local.”
It’s not isolated: the area around Corso dei Tintori / Via de’ Bardi has several supermarkets and discount stores within a short distance.
In general, even if not every supermarket is right on your street, you can probably find something suitable for daily shopping within 5–10 minutes on foot.
