Our home is a character-filled older house tucked into a peaceful cul-de-sac in a quiet estate near Monash University. We offer a relaxed and friendly homestay that’s ideal for travellers and backpackers looking for a calm base, as well as university students needing short-term accommodation.
We’re about 20 km from the city centre, but getting around is simple. A bus stop just 10 minutes away connects you directly to the university, train lines, and major routes. Monash Uni is an easy 10-minute walk or a quick bus ride. Two shopping centres are within walking distance (or a short bus trip) with cafés, cinemas, supermarkets, and plenty of places to browse. A larger shopping hub and aquatic centre are also nearby for swimming or gym sessions.
The guest room is simple, comfortable, and filled with natural light. It includes a double bed (with bedding and towels provided), a desk, and high-speed Wi-Fi, which is free for guests.
Help yourself to a light breakfast each morning (toast, cereal, fruit, tea, and coffee). Weekend meals can be arranged for a small extra fee if you’d like a home-cooked treat.
My son and I share the home. He works days, I work evenings, so the house has a nice, easy rhythm. We respect your privacy, but are always up for a chat, shared meal, or a relaxed drink if you feel social.
The real bosses of the house: two senior cats.
They’re gentle, mostly keep to themselves, and may stop by to say hello. Guests need to be comfortable around cats and not allergic. They’re not allowed in the guest room, but as any cat owner knows, a completely fur-free life is… aspirational.
Outside, you’ll find a large backyard with a covered verandah overlooking the garden, a great spot for a quiet drink, a relaxing read or some bird watching. Guests are welcome to use the BBQ facilities, and there’s an outdoor heater for those crisp evenings when it’s still nice to sit outside.
We’re close to the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, home to superb walking and hiking trails, including the famous 1000 Steps. You can also visit Puffing Billy Scenic Railway and the Botanical Gardens, a treasure trove for nature lovers. Our location is also a great gateway to Phillip Island and the Mornington Peninsula, perfect for day trips. We’re always happy to suggest places to visit or help with directions.

Payment is due before or on arrival.
