In this section you can find the best places to live near the university.

Where’s Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf located?

It has five faculties, all of them in a single campus located south of the city of Düsseldorf. It’s located on the banks of the Rhine River and surrounded by numerous spaces open to students such as the botanical garden (Botanischer Garten) and the Unisee park.

It should be noted that the campus is made up of both the buildings of the institution itself and those of the University Hospital of Dusseldorf. Because of this, among the faculties that you can find on the HHU campus are:

  • Law school: it’s located in the campus’ main building. It was founded in 1992 and is one of the most popular faculties to study Law in Germany.
  • Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences: within this faculty, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Physics, and Psychology are studied.
  • Faculty of Medicine: it brings together research, teaching, and customer service. It’s part of the University Hospital (Universitätsklinikum Düsseldorf).
  • Faculty of Arts and Humanities: it’s the Faculty of Humanities, Cultural Studies, and Social Sciences. It includes twelve institutes and offers more than 40 study programs.
  • Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences: it’s one of the newest and smallest business and economics faculties in Germany. This allows a very good interaction between teachers and students.

Just so you keep it in mind, it takes around 20 minutes to get from the city centre to the university area by public transport. Another very popular alternative among students is to go on bicycle, which takes approximately 20 minutes. Thanks to a cooperation between the university and NextBike, university members have access to 60 free minutes of shared bikes.
