Flats and spare rooms for students near the University of Liège

To find accommodation near the institution, you first have to identify which of its campuses you will be going to.

Where is the University of Liège located?

This institution has four campuses in three different Belgian cities:

Campus Liège City Centre

This is the historic campus of the city and dates back to 1817. It consists of different buildings scattered throughout the central neighbourhoods of Liège, including the areas of Outremeuse, Août, and near the Opera and Botanical Garden. In addition to the central administration headquarters, it has the following faculties and schools:

  • Philosophy and Letters
  • Architecture
  • HEC-Management School

Campus Liège Sart Tilman

This is the main and largest campus of the institution. It is located south of the city of Liège and can be reached by bus in about 30 minutes. It has 7 of the 11 faculties of ULiège, which are:

  • Engineering
  • Law, Political Science and Criminology
  • Psychology, Speech Therapy and Educational Sciences
  • Sciences
  • Medicine (with the University Hospital of Liège - CHU)
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Social Sciences

Campus Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech (GxABT)

Located in the city with the same name, near the Belgian city of Namur, this campus is dedicated to the areas of Agronomy and Biological Engineering. It occupies the buildings that were an 18th-century Benedictine Abbey in the centre of a large park.

Campus Arlon

Located in the city of Arlon, in southern Belgium, it is home to the Department of Environmental Science and Management of the Faculty of Sciences of ULiège.

Best neighbourhoods to live in near the ULiège

The following are some of the neighbourhoods you should consider living in near the campuses:

Outremeuse, Cathédrale, Botanique and Le Carré

All these central neighbourhoods of Liège are very convenient if you are going to the Campus Liège City Centre of the institution. You will be able to reach all the buildings that make up this campus quickly, either by walking, cycling, or taking the bus. In addition, living in these neighbourhoods will put you in the most lively area of the Belgian city, where most of the bars, restaurants, and places to go out at night are located.

Sart-Tilman, Avroy, Guillemins, Fragnée and Vennes

The Sart-Tilman neighbourhood is the most convenient to live in near the Campus Liège Sart-Tilman, as it is located right there. However, we also recommend considering the neighbourhoods of Avroy, Guillemins, Fragnée and Vennes to go to this campus. They are on the bus route that connects this campus with the centre of Liège, and the journey takes a maximum of 30 minutes.

Namur City Centre

The Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech campus of ULiège is located approximately 30 minutes away by public transport from the city of Namur, so it is more convenient to live there than in the city of Liège. The centre of Namur is located next to the main train station, so you will have easy access to that campus.

Student residences near the ULiège

This Belgian institution has student residences in the three cities in which it has a presence: Liège, Gembloux and Arlon. You will be able to choose between rooms in residences and rooms in kots as well as consider the possibility of renting a room in a private residence, of which you will also find several alternatives, especially in Liège.

Erasmus in the University of Liège

Here are some important things to keep in mind when doing your mobility in this Belgian city:

  • We believe that the best thing you can do to get to the university is to acquire a second-hand bike and use it to commute daily. However, if you prefer to use public transport, keep in mind that the Wallonia region offers reductions in the prices of transportation vouchers for young people.
  • ULiège requires international students to present a certificate that reflects their level in French or English, depending on the language in which they will be studying. A minimum level of B1 is required in both languages, with a B2 necessary for the HEC Management School.
