Best neighbourhoods to live in near the TAU

These are some of the neighbourhoods that you can consider to live near the institution:

Tammela

This neighbourhood is very popular among students who are going to go to the City Campus of the institution, since it is located a few minutes walk to the south. Because so many young people choose this neighbourhood to live in every year, there are a large number of restaurants, shops and cultural and sports spaces to take advantage of. From here there is also a good public transport connection to the other campuses.

Hervanta

It is true that this neighbourhood is far from the centre of Tampere, but it is ideal if you want to live close to the campus located there. It is a more residential and modern area with shopping centres and sports facilities. Furthermore, it usually has a lively and multicultural atmosphere.

Kyttälä

Kyttälä is part of the city centre and is very close to the institution's City Campus. It’s one of the liveliest areas of the city, with restaurants, bars, cafés, shops and green areas to enjoy. It's also well served by public transport, so you'll be able to get everywhere easily from here.

Student residences near the University of Tampere

The institution itself does not have halls of residence, so this type of accommodation is not going to be an option. However, you can choose between private and public student halls of residence. In the private ones, the type of accommodation can be both single rooms and shared rooms, and in some cases they offer studio-type flats. The public student halls of residences, offered by the Tampere Student Housing Foundation (TOAS) and Pirkan Opiskelija-asunnot (POAS), are predominantly studio flats, so the cost of rent may be a little higher.
