Basic requirements for international students in Turkey

Turkey is not part of the European Union, so you will have to apply for a residence permit if your stay is longer than 90 days. For this, it’s recommended that you carry your passport (not just your identity card) and make sure it’s stamped during the immigration process at the airport, stating the date of your entry into the country.
If you are from a non-EU country, you will most likely have to apply for a student visa to be able to reside in Turkey during your exchange.
You must have health insurance to cover your stay. There are several options depending on your situation. For example, if you have public insurance in some countries (such as Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, France, among others), you only have to fill out a form to have access to public insurance in Turkey. In case your country is not included, you have to contract private health insurance (international or Turkish).
To apply for the exchange you’ll have to submit documents such as a motivation letter, a transcript of academic records and even a letter of recommendation. In addition, you have to fill out the Learning Agreement.
Most universities also ask for proof of financial means reflecting your ability to pay for the duration of your studies.
