Living here will allow you to be close to the most frequented areas by young people in the centre of Ghent and the Coupure and Dunant campuses. It is a quiet area where you can easily take walks outdoors and be surrounded by nature.

From the centre of the Belgian city, you can quickly reach the various UGent campuses on foot, by bike or public transport. Living in this area means that you will be in a lively area, although be aware that there are also many tourists.

Student residences near UGent

This institution offers the possibility of applying for a place in one of its residences, which can be large buildings or “kots” (a type of accommodation in which 10-20 students can live, sharing common areas and with private rooms). It is worth noting that only students who have an invitation letter for a semester can apply for a place.

Erasmus in Ghent University

Here are some facts to consider:

  • "De Fietsambassade Gent" is the Bicycle Embassy of Ghent. This organisation rents bicycles to students for short periods or even a year, making it easier to access this type of transport. You can also buy a second-hand one.
  • Every year, Welcome Days are held at the university to welcome international students and help them integrate more quickly into life in the city and at the institution.
