Campus Haga

The old neighbourhood of Haga is just a few minutes from the city centre. There is the School of Administration, Economics and Law (Handelshögskolan vid Göteborgs universitet), in the building they call “Handels”, and very close is the Faculty of Social Sciences (Samhällsvetenskapliga fakulteten).

Campus Johanneberg

This campus belongs to the Chalmers University of Technology, but the University of Gothenburg also teaches classes in some of its departments along with that institution. It is located south of the city centre. Here is the Center for Earth Sciences (Geovetarcentrum) and part of the departments of:

Campus Linné

This campus is located near Linnaeus Square, from which it takes its name. It is in the Annedal neighbourhood, about 10 minutes by bike from the centre of Gothenburg. In this campus, we have classes of:

• Department of Journalism, Media and Communication

• School of Global Studies

Campus Lindholmen

It is located in the Hisingen district, on the other side of the Göta river from the city centre. Most of the departments of the Faculty of IT are located in these buildings.

Buildings in Lorensberg and Vasastan

Between the neighbourhoods of Lorensberg and Vasastan there are several buildings. One is the main administration building, located in Vasaparken. Other buildings in this area house the following faculties and academies:

• Academy of Music and Drama (Artisten building)

• Faculty of Humanities (Humanisten building)

• Academy of Art and Design (in the HDK and Valand buildings)

• School of Sports

Campus Medicinareberget

This campus is part of the Sahlgrenska Academy, and the Sahlgrenska University Hospital is also located here. It houses most of the departments related to Medicine and Dentistry.

Campus Rosenlund

It is located in the central Inom Vallgraven neighbourhood in Gothenburg and houses part of the University's Faculty of Education.

Best neighbourhoods to live in near the GU

We suggest you consider the following neighbourhoods to live in according to your faculty:

Haga

This neighbourhood has many cafés and shops, as well as accommodation with more affordable prices than the city centre. Here you will be close to Haga Campus and you will be able to reach others in a short time by bicycle or public transport.

Centre of Gothenburg

From the centre of the city, you will be able to access the different campuses and buildings of the University of Gothenburg easily, and also be close to the leisure sites most visited by students every week.

Johanneberg

This area is ideal if you are going to Campus Johanneberg, although we remind you that you will also be able to reach the other buildings of the UG quickly. There are plenty of affordable dining options, including bars, restaurants, and cafés, and it is also home to the Liseberg amusement park and a few museums.

Student residences near the University of Gothenburg

This university gives students from some exchange programs (such as Erasmus) the opportunity to apply for rooms or apartments in their residences. Of course, remember that you have to request accommodation when applying for the exchange and that, since there are so many exchange students, it is difficult for them to assign you a place.

Erasmus in the University of Gothenburg

Some information to take into account during your Erasmus at the Swedish institution:

• Don't worry if you can't find accommodation near the GU campus you're going to, although ideally, it should at least have a good public transport connection with it. Keep in mind that it is a cyclist-friendly city, so you will be able to save on transport if you buy a second-hand one upon arrival.
