Innsbruck is a relatively small and well-connected city, so you can access the university from several neighbourhoods. Here are some of the most popular:
If you prefer to be close to the Innrain Campus and of Universitätsstraße Campus, as well as enjoying urban life, the city centre is an excellent option. Here you will find a large number of shops, restaurants, cafes and a vibrant nightlife.
Hötting is a residential neighbourhood located west of the city centre, ideal especially if you’re going to go to the Campus Sport or Campus Technik. It offers a quieter, more residential environment, but is still well connected to the university's main campus. It is an excellent option if you prefer a more relaxed environment.
Saggen is an elegant and residential neighbourhood in the centre of Innsbruck. It offers a quiet environment and is within a reasonable walking or cycling distance to the Universitätsstraße Campus.
As Innsbruck is a small city, there are usually no private student halls , but rather private flats. Besides, the Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD) often tries to offer places in residences to exchange students. However, these places are limited and demand is very high, so it is usually difficult to receive one. Because of this, we advise you to start searching for accommodation as soon as you can.
