Where is the University of Cyprus located?

Its faculties and departments are spread across different campuses and buildings in the city of Nicosia. The most important ones are:

New Campus

This is the main campus of the institution and the only one where the buildings are arranged in a specific complex. This campus is located in the suburb of Aglantzia, a few kilometres from Nicosia, south of the centre.

Most faculties, administrative offices, libraries, research centres and student residences of the university are located here. It is also worth noting that this is where classes for most exchange programs are taught.

Among the faculties based in the New Campus are:

• Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences (FPAS): It includes the departments of Biological Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry.

• Faculty of Economics and Administration (FEM): It has the departments of Economics, Management, Accounting and Finance, Social and Political Sciences, Law, French Studies and Modern Languages.

Lykabittos Campus - Central Facilities

Many of the institution's facilities, such as a library and some deaneries, are on this campus. It is located in the Lykabittos neighbourhood, very close to the old town and next to the Alsos forest. The departments that give classes here include:

Best neighbourhoods to live in near UCY

Several neighbourhoods near the university are popular among students. These are some of the best options:

Aglantzia

This is the neighbourhood where the New Campus of the UCY is located, so it is a convenient option for students who want to be close to their faculty. It has all the necessary services, such as supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, and is usually full of young people and has a lively atmosphere.

Lykabittos

Another campus of the institution and many of its buildings are located in this neighbourhood. It has plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as bars and nightclubs popular among students for going out at night. In addition, from Lykabittos, you can easily reach both the centre of Nicosia and the New Campus.

Nicosia Centre

If you prefer to live in a more urban environment, the centre of Nicosia is a good option. It is a short bus ride from most university buildings, and there are many shops, bars and restaurants in the area. However, keep in mind that the city centre can be more expensive than other neighbourhoods.

Student residences near UCY

The university has some student residences, all located in the New Campus. As an international student, you can apply to be assigned one of the places in rooms or studio apartments. However, please note that places are limited and it is usually much simpler to look for a room in a private shared apartment on your own.
