You can look for accommodation near the University of Toulouse-Jean JaurĂšs, in the Mirail area, or in neighbourhoods closer to the city centre.
These are the neighbourhoods closest to UT2J. These residential areas are very quiet. If you choose one of them youâll save time getting to class. Moreover, they are very well connected with the rest of the city, it takes 20 minutes by train to get to the centre.
These neighbourhoods are very close to the University, 10 minutes by bike or 20 minutes by train. These residential areas have a lot of student accommodation. They are further away from the centre, but they have bars, restaurants and supermarkets that make this area very practical for living. They also have green areas to spend time outdoors such as the Gironis Park or cultural premises like the Centre Culturel Alban-Minville.
This neighbourhood is very popular among students for its bars and cafés on Olivier square. St Cyprien is a little further away from the University, but students choose it as a half-way point between the centre and the university area. It's on the banks of the Garonne River, and if you like outdoor activities, you'll enjoy the Prairie de Filtres park and the Raymond VI garden. It takes 20 minutes to Jean JaurÚs University and a 15-minute walk to the historic centre.
In the university area youâll find public student residences. The UT2J is associated with the Crous de Toulouse, the state's network of public residences. They tend to be more affordable than the private ones.
As for the private residences, thereâs also a wide variety in Toulouse. Their price tends to be higher, but youâll find options both in the city centre and in the university area. In addition, they tend to have a wider range of shared spaces and services.
UT2J focuses mainly on Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts, but has a wide range of classes. Some of the majors that you can study at this University include Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology and Foreign Languages, among others.
