Where is the University of Bergen located?

The faculties are mostly located in buildings in the Nygårdshøyden area in the centre of Bergen. Here is where you can find them:

Faculty of Humanities

Most of its buildings are in the Sydnes neighbourhood, although its administrative headquarters are in Nygård. It comprises departments such as:

Law School

It is located in the Sydnes neighbourhood in the centre of Bergen, very close to the institution's administrative headquarters.

Best neighbourhoods to live in near the UiB

We suggest that you consider the following neighbourhoods:

Nygård

In this neighbourhood, you can find most of the institution's faculties, so it is very convenient for students to live. Additionally, it has many bars, restaurants, and affordable cafeterias for young people, as the area is full of university students.

Sentrum

This is one of Bergen's liveliest neighbourhoods, offering a wide range of leisure and entertainment venues, such as concert halls, cinemas, and other exhibition sites. In addition, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology are located here, and it has good connections to the rest of the faculties at UiB.

Kronstad

This neighbourhood is part of the suburbs of Bergen and is very convenient for those students who want to live near the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bergen. It is a bit far from leisure spots, but don't worry, as trams and buses that connect to the city centre take less than 10 minutes to make the connection.

Student residences near the UiB

This institution only guarantees accommodation through SAMMEN for those students who will be staying for at least one semester and who accept the offer on time. Keep in mind that rooms may be shared among several students. Also, pay attention to what is included, as it is very common for you to have to bring your kitchen utensils and bedding.

Erasmus in the University of Bergen

Some things to keep in mind during your mobility at this Norwegian institution:

• A minimum B2 level of English is required to take exchange courses. Generally, no certificate is required, as the same nomination from your home university to go to UiB is proof of it.

• The University organises many events throughout the year, so you'll be able to do something fun with your friends every week.
