Apartment in the Heart of Acireale – Casa Nicotra
Welcome to our home! My name is Laura Nicotra and I am the owner of this apartment in the historic center of Acireale, one of the most beautiful baroque cities in Sicily. Together with my three children, we are delighted to welcome guests from all over the world and share the beauty of this unique region with you.
The house
Casa Nicotra is a 19th-century Sicilian home, restored under the guidance of an architect. Instead of covering the walls with modern paint, we chose to bring back their original colors: the warm, natural tones of traditional Sicilian plaster, with the soft shading and texture that only time can create. What you see in the photos is not wear or damp. It is the authentic surface of an 1800s house, preserved on purpose. The result is a home with real historic character, where every room tells the story of old Sicily, combined with the comfort you need for a relaxing stay.
Location
The apartment is in the heart of the historic center, just steps from baroque churches, lively squares and traditional restaurants. Catania is only 15 km away. The sea of the Riviera dei Ciclopi is minutes away, and Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest active volcano, is practically on our doorstep. Syracuse and Ragusa are about an hour away by car.
The area
Acireale is a city rich in history and tradition, famous for its Carnival, one of the most beautiful in Italy, its historic thermal baths and its scenic waterfront. Every day you can choose: a morning at the beach, an afternoon among the lava forests of Etna, an evening strolling among 18th-century palaces.
