This is one of the most popular neighbourhoods chosen by students who have classes at the main campus of UNIST because it is located within a few minutes walk. Here, you will find supermarkets and other essential services, as well as numerous cafes, restaurants, and bars where you can socialise and relax in your free time. Additionally, Gripe offers a variety of museums and green spaces to visit.
Living in the city centre gives you easy access to multiple faculties, such as the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Law. It is the liveliest area of Split, with numerous shops, restaurants, cafes, and cultural attractions. Furthermore, the proximity to the promenade and historical sites makes it an ideal location for students who want to make the most of their stay.
If you are studying at the Faculty of Medicine, Firule is a neighbourhood worth considering. It is located southeast of the city centre, near the Clinical Hospital Centre of Split. Firule is known for its pleasant residential atmosphere and proximity to the beach, making it an attractive option if you enjoy living near the sea.
The institution has two university residences where exchange students are accommodated, called "Hostel Spinut" and "Dr Franjo Tuđman (Campus)". However, the university itself suggests that you look for accommodation in private apartments, as the spaces in the residences are limited, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and tend to fill up quickly.
