Best neighbourhoods to live in near UH

We recommend that you consider some of the following neighbourhoods, according to the University of Helsinki campus you are going to.

Kluuvi and Kruununhaka

These two central neighbourhoods are ideal if you are going to the City Centre Campus of the UH, since its facilities are located there. Also, keep in mind that they are among the most expensive neighbourhoods in the city, so the cost of rent is usually quite high. However, you will be close to many of the most frequented entertainment places, and you will be able to save on transport to get there when you go out.

Latokartano

This district is very convenient for students going to the Viikki Campus of the institution. In it, you can consider neighbourhoods such as Pihlajamäki, Pihlajisto and Latokartano, since they have a very good connection to the campus. These areas are quieter than the city centre to live in.

Mäkelänrinne and Itä-Pasila

These two neighbourhoods are close to the Kumpula Campus, so they are good alternatives if you want to live close to the institution. Here, you will find a wide variety of green spaces to enjoy, as well as affordable shops and restaurants for young people.

Töölö

Töölö is the ideal neighbourhood to live in if you want to be close to Meilahti Campus and the city centre, where the busiest entertainment venues in Helsinki are located. In Töölö, you will be able to enjoy a residential area with different museums, beaches, green areas, cafés and different shops and restaurants.

Student residences near the UH

The University of Helsinki does not have its student residences, but it does have an agreement with the HOAS organisation, that helps international young students find accommodation in their residences. Also, you will find private residences in different parts of the city, so that will be another option if you want to live in this type of accommodation.
