Bloomsbury

This is the neighbourhood where most UCL faculties are located. Thanks to this, you can walk to class without any problem. The area is full of students, bookstores and cafés. Keep in mind that it’s one of the most popular areas to live for students, so the rental price is normally higher.

It’s a quiet area that houses the Bloomsbury Campus. It’s a residential neighbourhood of great diversity, a mixture of apartment buildings and social housing. It’s full of cafés, restaurants, and pubs to enjoy with your friends.

Camden Town

This neighbourhood, famous for its market, is a very popular place among students. It’s north of the city of London. The area is full of alternative clubs with live music and traditional pubs. By public transport, it only takes 10 minutes to Bloomsbury Campus.

Stratford

It’s an area located to the east of the city, very close to the new UCL East Campus. It surrounds all of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It’s a quiet area to live, popular with students who prefer that lifestyle. It takes half an hour on the tube from Stratford central station to London colleges and 25 minutes to the city centre. As you can see, although it’s a slightly more remote neighbourhood, it’s very well connected to the rest of London.

Student residences near the UCL

University College London offers students places in public student halls of residence. They have offers in both the Bloomsbury and Stratford areas. Prices start at £200 per week onwards.

There’s also a wide variety of private residences in London. Most of them are located near the campuses or in the city centre. All of them have common areas that are very well equipped for the needs of the students.

Exchange at University College London

  • Since all classes are in English, you have to have a minimum level of this language to be able to attend all of them.
  • UCL organises numerous orientation activities to help you in every possible way upon your arrival in the city. These activities are divided into two segments: before your arrival and upon your arrival. During the months prior to your trip, the university will help you and guide you in all the steps to follow.
