Hlíðar is a neighbourhood located east of downtown Reykjavík and offers a convenient location for students attending the Holt Campus of the IUA. It has a residential atmosphere but provides easy access to the city centre and amenities. In Hlíðar, you can consider areas such as Holt, Norðurmýri, and Tún.

Laugarnes, Laekir, and Laugaras

Located near the Laugarnes Campus, these neighbourhoods are residential areas. They offer a quieter environment while still being relatively close to the city centre. Additionally, you can find slightly more affordable accommodations here compared to the central area of Reykjavík.

Miðborg

The downtown district of Reykjavík, known as Miðborg, is a popular option among students due to its central location and lively atmosphere. Here, you'll find the Kvosin Campus and have easy access to services such as shops, restaurants, cafes, and cultural attractions.

Student residences near the IUA

The university does not have student residences, so living in that type of accommodation is not an option. Therefore, students usually choose to live in shared rooms in private apartments. This provides an opportunity to live with other young people, one of the characteristics that student residences offer. In addition, these shared rooms tend to have a more affordable rental cost than renting a complete apartment. However, we remind you to start your accommodation search as soon as possible, as prices are high and demand becomes quite competitive as the start of classes approaches.
